What was presumably an old village pub, long since subsumed by housing estates and modernised at some point into someone's idea of rustic by nailing up vast quantities of recycled wood round the walls and ruining the floorboards. Odd traces of beams and changes in floor level give clues of a former life. Not unpleasant however, and retains a comfortable feel despite a strong emphasis on food. The front room is divided into separate ares, with some tall barrels and stools to one side, and tables round the other with large chimney stack with log burner in the middle. The bar is to the back of the building, with a large conservatory behind. Garden at rear, as well as a set of regimented tables and a large smoking area to the front. Ales limited to IPA and Abbot; sadly condition of that sampled was not the best.

A Greene King branded outlet. Go through a front courtyard to enter. The inside is low ceilinged and quite dark. Has clearly had a makeover not so long ago but the decor is already a bit battered. Central fireplace dominates and has some individually drawn tiles depicting various hunting scenes. To the rear is a conservatory extension, leading to garden via many cracked and unstable paving slabs. Two dart boards, loud modern music. Three pumps at the bar, all clipped with GK IPA (so-so). Not a patch on its next door neighbour but it seems happy to co-exist and I guess the locals can enjoy their particular chosen vibe in peace from each other.
