The Rising Sun is a short walk uphill from the high street and station.
Once inside the pub has two separate rooms,i had a drink in the lounge which is on the left side, this room is L shaped and is carpeted, the seating is normal tables and chairs, there is a separate bar to the right which has a pool table and darts board in it,this room was empty on my visit.
There was one pump on the bar which was unclipped,so it was a drink of John Smiths smooth crap which it was.
The lounge was fairly busy, the background music was very loud, there is a garden to the rear.
Nothing special about this pub.

The Rising Sun consists of a smart front bar that houses a dartboard and a pool table. At the rear is a larger lived in rear bar area. I found myself to be the only customer during a recent weekday visit just before lunch. I didn’t see any food advertised so I decided to have a swift half of generic lager from the available usual suspects. I decided to give the Young’s Ordinary a miss as I was the first customer of the day.

I didn’t note the presence of a television, but Sky Sports was advertised so there must have been one somewhere. There was some background music playing off a jukebox.

Out the back is a beer garden that could do with some new picnic tables and some serious TLC.

I found the service to be friendly, but there are better pubs in the immediate area.

A slightly run down Victorian town pub in a residential area just off the A2. First licensed in 1858 (though it sold ale well before that) and previously owned by Trumans, it was once popular as the well house in the back dispensed water free of charge. It's supposedly haunted by a man who cut his own throat in the toilet in Victorian times. The front bar has a pool table and basic furniture while the saloon bar is a bit more comfortable. The landlord is a decent chap and has tried to introduce real ale but is having limited success through lack of interest, and both barrels were off when I visited. That said I would be most willing to come back and give it another look once the renovations are finished and the new business has settled down a bit.

I have just had a roast dinner from the rising sun, its now doing home deliveries of good old fashioned british grub, the first I have ever known about. All the food was fresh, the meat just melted in your mouth, we had a turkey, lamb and beef roast and was totally delish. The veg was delicious and I will definately be ordering from there again x
