Bucking Fastard left this review about The Fisherman
This McMullen tied house is situated in a northern suburb of the town not far from the A1M.It appears to be a collection of old buildings but apart from a seperate barn it maybe faux. The entrance is off the carpark and leads into the drinking part of the pub,an L shaped bar with small tables surrounding a wood burner , a couple of high tables and a small raised section. There is what looks like a dining overflow room to the immediate left but wasn't used on my Monday lunchtime visit.
Around a corner is the wait to be seated dining area across a few sections with the rustic feel interior resulting in lots of old wood and some undresses brick. Here there is a large conservatory to the left with access to a wrap around pub garden,it was busy with a wake.
The pub food theme is rotisserie chicken and grills although there are lunchtime baked potatoes and chiabattas at under £10.The bar supports three handpumps drawing on my trip Macs IPA,AK and "Rivertown " Rill just NBSS Acceptable.
At least you can just pop in for a beer ,but the corporate vibe and lackluster Macs ales will always temper enthusiasm despite very welcoming bar staff.
