This was a late night stop after taking a wrong turn on the way back to the hotel. Two rooms either side of the entrance, also split by the central bar. The room on the right was unoccupied, so we headed left. A game of darts was in progress here, and beyond seating, to the rear there was also a pool table with a couple playing. A TV on the wall was switched off.
Light green woodwork, framed caricatures plus a few local scenes, dried hops around a beam. The wooden floor looked a bit tatty despite the review below.
Several handpumps but just Doom Bar available with a Pride clip reversed, although it is perfectly possible that I was seeing double by then!

A fairly unassuming exterior. Three ales (Doom Bar, Otter and Pride). My Otter wasn’t great and I suspected I may have had old dregs from the slop tray in my pint. Sweary barman and his sweary mate put me off staying in the grimly utilitarian front bar. Thankfully this led me to the unexpectedly nice nautical-themed garden which had a boat in it! I doubt I’ll be making a return visit.

Blackthorn _ left this review about The Rising Sun

This pub looks as though it's recently been spruced up a bit with a lick of paint round the place and some decent wooden flooring. Unfortunately the refurbishment hasn't extended to the loos which are clearly some way past their best. Interesting feature in the beer garden (sorry, yard), namely a boat sat proudly in the middle, complete with a tall mast and water splashing off the bow! It's fitted out with table and chairs and so if you're feeling nautical you can sit in there and sup your pint.

It bills itself outside as the “Rising Sun Bistro & Bar” and this is clearly evident as you walk through the door with the right hand bar being the bistro, with all the tables laid up for diners and drinkers presumably being unwelcome. The bar area is pleasant enough though. I particularly liked the large, upended beer barrels around the place which could be used to prop your drinks on.

Beers were Abbot Ale, London Pride and Otter. Ciders were Stowford Press, Blackthorn and Addlestones, although the latter was off.
