E TA left this review about The Bold Forester

An unfriendly roadside pub with an over-inflated opinion of its own worth. It’s a food led establishment, to the point where going in and just asking for a drink puts an even deeper sneer on the already sour face of the young barmaid. Even the signs around the pub instructing you what to do with dogs, children etc seem oppressive. They’re dog-tolerant rather than dog friendly. There is a reasonable sized car park at the front along with a small terraced area which offers great views of the car dealership next door. The single L-shaped bar does have a small drinking area at one end, but most of the space is taken up by dining tables. The food is good, freshly cooked, traditional pub fare, though it is expensive for the area. There were 4 handpumps, one dry, the others dispensing Tribute, Doombar and Pride, and like the food these were very expensive for the area. The keg choices were Guinness, Peroni, Fosters, Stella and Strongbow Aspall ciders. There was a TV but this was switched off, so the only sounds were the barmaid being rude to customers and awful easy listening muzak on the hi fi. I didn’t enjoy this visit at all and won’t be going back.
