E TA left this review about The Good Intent

Previously The Clinkers Tavern, now a sound local pub just off the high street having undergone a refurb. Families are welcomed, the pub is dog-friendly and the ambiance is not unpleasant. The single large bar of this Victorian building is carpeted and decorated in a plain style. There are gaming machines, a dartboard, TVs and basic pub food on offer. The staff were a little unwelcoming, and the locals a bit cliquey, but there wasn't any real opposition to our presence. Two ales on – I had a pint of Ruddles which was over-chilled but otherwise in good order. Can't say I'd rush back, but it's worth dropping in for a pint if passing, and I'd include on a town crawl.

Michael Wright left this review about Clinkers Tavern

One large bar, but sub divided into areas, pool, dining etc

There is a step down to ding part, but not a big step, saw a chap with sticks manage it OK

Hand pulls and normal tap stuff

Serves food from what seems a varied menu, but not tried it

A nice enough place, for me the only down point was the smell of fag smoke drifting in from the rear outside smoking area [door left open], not sure I would like to eat with smell of fags around me
