A revisit earlier this month found a wholly different pub than that of four years previously. It has had an overhaul both inside and out with new signage and paintwork. Apparently new management are trying to make it a more welcoming locals pub and they look to be getting there as the two ladies behind the bar were friendly and the clientele clearly local. Three ales - Titanic 1912, Altons Pride and Doom Bar – the first two of which came out well. Also available was an interesting cider in the form of New Forest Kingston Black. There were also home-made filled rolls from behind the bar which was a nice touch, I would have had one if I hadn’t already eaten at the ground. Background music was piped from the local radio station. Some maintenance work needs to be done (the rain had formed a few damp patches in the wall/ceiling join above our seats) but this place is heading in the right direction and I’m definitely making the 10 minute detour out of the town centre to sample it again.

March 2008
Stumbled in after a curry up the road and encountered what seemed to be a decent stab at a disco (unless the place was holding a private function, the average age of the punters was about 22). Anyways, three Greene King ales and my Speckled Hen was fairly good. The atmosphere was noisy but not rowdy. The two-room interior was relatively unremarkable though the gents lavs are outside (not obvious!). If this is the regular Saturday evening entertainment, it might well be worth a visit if you're under 35. Certainly better than most of Basingrad town centre anyway. (5)

A reasonable pub tucked away from the town centre. Small interior but not bad.

Old Boots left this review about The Bounty

More traditionally a pub than some of the nearby establishments as it is just far enough from the 'top of town' not to have gone the whole way down the bland modernizing path. Two bars which were originally Public and Saloon and still retain a little of that atmosphere, there is also a reasonable beer garden. 3 pumps selling Deuchars, Abbott and Old Hooky, a range that is a little overbalanced towards the strong side. Perfectly acceptable condition but not outstanding, typically for these lacklustre brews. Plastic vine leaves and fairy light decor in the ex saloon. Looks popular with the 25-35 age group.
