Not really a pub now; the main building is a Pizza Express, however the reception desk for the remaining rooms has a fridge and will sell you a bottle of beer.

The old Danbury has been subject to a thorough and welcome refurb. There’s now a plush pile carpet and bespoke wallpaper. Two rooms inside. Impressive marble bar top and a massive coffee machine. A Watneys barrel hangs above the bar, perhaps to frighten people into drinking the ale. Four ale pumps now (none previously) with three on (Doom Bar, Pride and a house beer from Molson Coors). My Pride was over-cold and not overly drinkable. More posh than before but some old school Andover punters remain in situ which made for an incongruous punter mix. Definitely an improvement, mind.

No real ale when we looked in so moved on. Operates a no trainers policy later on the evening as my friends discovered. Not that it's likely to have any discernable affect on the type of punter inside but there you go - very 1995. Unrated.
