E TA left this review about The New Crown
A Victorian wedge-shaped family-run corner pub, originally intended as a coaching inn. The main bar is at the apex of the corner and is in the shape of an A. One leg is elongated and has a dartboard, and there is a TV showing live sports in the main part. The gents’ toilet is downstairs, reached through a tiny irregular paved yard which serves no real purpose. There is also B&B on offer. The landlady and locals were welcoming, and it transpired that she had been here for nearly 30 years. It feels a bit dated, but it’s obviously a popular local, though opening times appear a bit vague now. Ales on were Doombar, Pride and Tribute, all in decent condition. I wouldn’t go out of my way to come here but it’s fine for a quickie if passing or you’re escaping from the nearby hospital.
