This Georgian village pub has a small outside terrace which is paved, and a single L-shaped bar formed by knocking through the two original bars, the former divide shown by the change in flooring: flagstones in one part, old timber floorboards in the other. I’m told there is a skittle alley and function room at the back, but I didn’t see it. There are open fireplaces, basic furniture and a pleasant atmosphere. It's very much a village community asset, a stark contrast to the tourist trap the village's other remaining pub has become. There are two dartboards, a gaming machine, a pool table and free WiFi, plus a selection of board games. The locals are very friendly and talkative, while the landlord offers a genuine warm welcome. Good, simple pub grub is sold at a reasonable price, and there are regular social events including quiz nights and Summer barbecues. Two ales on, Doombar and Ringwood Best, both in very good condition. Well worth seeking out for a quiet evening or a decent pint.
