A cafe/bar tucked away under an archway off the main road of trendy bars is 1331. This is a modern style place that has shiny wood and metal everywhere and marble bar tops, to the back is a seating area with tables for food but drinkers are welcome as well as on the high topped tables.
On the bar is a good selection of keg beers from unusual German brewers such as krombacher along side some usual suspects. There is also surprisingly two cask ales available that on my visit were dispensing Thwaites Wainwright and York brewery Guzzler. I opted for the wainwright for an expensive £3.80 and thought it had a few off/funny flavors to the beer and was nowhere near the nicest pint of this beer i have tried.
Overall a disappointing visit but the addition of two ales makes this place a cut above many of the others on this street as it is a glitzier area of town . i would return here over others simply for this reason but the price and quality are questionable.

I entered this pub through the left hand door which lead to a flight of steps up to a smallish oblong shaped room.
There were three tall tables and chairs for seating, one was taken up by a group of lads, there is a separate room to the rear which looked more like a dining room.
There was one real ale on the which was York Brew 55 which went down well.
Background music was playing but this din'nt help me like the place anymore,i probably went in the wrong room to really appreciate this pub.

Found some real ale among the wealth of café bars and bistros around this area of York. Proper bar in a room set for dining, and York Nelson Sauvin ale was on and kept well enough too. There is another floor upstairs with posters for open mic night, quiz nights, disco and gigs. There is a delightful garden area outside, and another section of the building has a cinema and room for wedding receptions and such like. Long list of cocktails chalked up behind the bar. Food available, and unobtrusive background music playing.
