Jeffrey Lewis, whom The Guardian has called a "wordy force of nature" and Jarvis Cocker describes as "the best lyricist working in the US today," has been writing, recording, touring, and illustrating for close to twenty years. His latest album, Manhattan (Rough Trade) sees him exploring the details and characters of his hometown with characteristic wryness and wit.
Ariel Sharratt and Mathias Kom are best known to UK audiences as The Burning Hell, a moniker that covers the various permutations of Kom's songwriting over the years. They recently released an album of cracked love songs which the BBC called "a wonder to behold," and are getting set to release the eighth Burning Hell album, Revival Beach, in the fall of 2017.
