David Cronenberg's Wife-
Over 150 gigs under their belt, three albums to date, numerous radio sessions (inc. 2 for Marc Riley), Prestigious support slots with The Fall and even a quiz show win. David Cronenberg’s Wife’s songs swing between the sweet and the disturbing. Their strength lies in the fact you’re never quite sure what side you’re going to get – DCW never play the same set twice. Whether playing acoustic twisted lullabies or in-your-face electric hollers the lyrics catch you off guard with their openness, black humour and sometimes troubling themes; DCW takes dark morally dubious story-telling to new depths.
"Where genius meets idiocy" – Mark Lamarr (BBC Radio 2)
"Bitterly humorous lyrics… a mix of The Fall’s 80s rockabilly inspired ‘Grotesque’ and the Velvet Underground [on “Hypnagogues”]"—The NME

Lance Romance-
A rare UK appearance from a New York Anti-Folk legend!
Over the past 20 years Lance has released numerous albums and shared the stage with the likes of The Moldy Peaches and Jeffrey Lewis among others.
Step into the world of Lance Romance for one night only!
“Lance Romance layers his terminally silly quasi-raps dealing with macaroni and Mrs. Doubtfire, among other hot-button topics over tiny electro beats.” – Time Out, New York
"Quirky rock-and-roll; irreverently funny, experimental, oldies-influenced, and jazz-tinged. A stalwart of the New York Anti-folk scene but a rocker at heart, he writes clever, experimental pop songs often get the audience singing along,
and are sometimes so far out he once was voted most likely to guest-host American Bandstand if it were on Mars. Lance is popular at parties, in rowdy bars, and campfires.” – Unstrung Magazine

Pit Ponies-
Bringing ‘Upminster Soul’ to Forest Gate for the evening!
Regulars on the London live scene for the past couple of years, Pit Ponies have built up a solid fan-base, promoted their own monthly East London residency, signed to Trashmouth Records and found time to gig with, I Ludicrous, The Nightingales, Fever Dream, Taman Shud, Papernut Cambridge, Meatraffle and darlings of the indie press, The Fat White Family. Fresh from their recent Liverpool Sound City performance and taking time out from recording their second album, Pit Ponies present new songs and old favourites tonight at The Tavern.
“Pit Ponies don’t need to pull you into their world – you already live in it. Their stock in trade is the mundane, the beauty and tragedy found in everyday life.” – Louder Than War magazine
“If you can hear romance and beauty in the lyrics of any of these: Jackie Leven, Tom Waits, The Pogues, The Libertines, Arab Strap, Ian Dury, then you need to buy the Pit Ponies album.” – Trust the wizards.com

Scrappy Hood-
Best known for his work with MILK KAN, Scrappy has entertained audiences the length and breadth of the UK for over 10 years.
Tonight Scrappy plays his country inspired solo songs augmented by simple steel guitar accompaniment. Expect old time story telling songs brought kicking and screaming into the 21st century. Tales from the South London streets, the night bus and all the way to Nandos via the Nike outlet. The view from the top sure ain’t pretty!
'This is absolutely genius' – Tom Robinson (BBC 6Music)
'Milk Kan you rule. Somewhere between Bob Dylan and Mike skinner. Poets with Attitude, free-form, stream-of-consciousness blues-rapping with acoustic guitars. It's lyrical genius of the observational kind and the weirdest, awkwardly endearing thing on earth right now.' – Steve Lamacq (BBC Radio 1)
