About
HERE WE GO AGAIN, ANOTHER BLOODY GIG

THE MOBBS
If anyone in York claims they are into garage punk, and do not come to see The Mobbs from Northampton, then they can take that claim and stick it where the sun don't shine mate. I used poor grammar there on purpose, so I would sound like a real Northampton person. Anyway, The Mobbs are the ultimate garage punk band. The quintessential gentlemen's band. They effortlessly splice high-energy garage punk, 100 miles per hour R+B, and a very chipper, high-end dress sense. I have personally seen this band 3 times now, and I can honestly say there are not many better garage punk bands around in the UK. Their songs are engaging, catchy, and will make you want to move your feet, in the style of an amphetamine-driven John Travolta in Grease. You do not want to miss the extreme rush that is The Mobbs.

TIGHTROPE
Tightrope is the project and musical offering of one Simon Hickinbotham. He is a very clever man, who manipulates machines in a live gig setting. His show is a tried and tested Behind The White Door favourite, as he clatters around the stage with his handmade guitar and perculiar robotic "dead disco" noises. The man is punker than punk, as he builds his own equipment and creates every single aspect of his sound all on his own. He is by far and away York's best postpunk performer. The genius of Tightrope is an absolute treat to behold on any lineup, but he is right at home at this edition of Behind The White Door, as all of the other bands on this event complement his strange electronic beauty. Agressive, distorted robodrums combine with a shattered guitar sound and mysterious vocal, to engineer a type of postpunk that you won't have heard before. Come and let Tightrope make you feel strange inside.

TUPPENNY BUNTERS
All the way from Southend, right at the arse end of the UK, come Fi and Dave Dulake, aka Tuppenny Bunters. Now then, you mark my words here, this band are quite literally the strangest band you will ever hear in your whole life, and quite possibly one of the most talented. Imagine The Carpenters made music whilst on hallucinogenic drugs, and then they sold this music to Tori Amos, who then let Chas and Dave cover the songs, and you're getting somewhere close. It's quirky, unique and absolutely brimming with spirit. It's a piano and drum assault of the aural senses. The piano strings are given a viscious hammering, and the drums are played with a sweeping ease of excellence. The duo even swap places during their set and demonstrate musical talents that even The Carpenters would have been jealous of. DO NOT miss your chance to see Tuppenny Bunters. They are something that needs to be seen to be believed.

RE:FUEL
We were approached by this band via email. They have apparently been secretly in attendance at previous Behind The White Door shows, and have also apparently been "listening in" from one of the band member's houses, which is situated a few doors away from The Fulford Arms. James Bond style. A quick gander at the link they provided (the same one as is here) showed them to be a band in possesion of a sound that has licks of The Police, Bruce Springsteen, Fleetwood Mac and a smattering of sunshine pop. It does also appear to have an unusual gloomy undertone, which makes for an interesting ride. The video opens with a man slowly carring a pickaxe, before a xylophonic ping and a jolly little riff. Make of that what you will. A very strange band, for a very strange Behind The White Door gig. We welcome Re:Fuel to our stage for their debut show with us. Come down early, check them out, and we can all decide together what genre it is that they do.
