The Micklegate at 127, York

A large single room being a left over from its former life as a nightclub, but it has pubby touches - dart board and a number of big screens all seemingly on different channels. There is some bench seating around the edges but the middle is mainly higher tables and chairs. The counter with its unusual front of drawers, is home to ten pulls and 20 keg fonts. In spite of the "craft" claims outside the casks are fairly mainstream for Yorkshire; Marstons, Rudgate and York Brewery from round the corner. Similarly the keg choice is national and international brands with Shipyard, Affligem, Vedett and Krusovice being the more interesting. Strongbow and a couple of real ciders were also available. The bottle choice in the fridge was similarly prosaic. The quality of the cask was fairly ordinary too.
