Larwood and Voce is a pub and kitchen that backs onto Trent Bridge Cricket Ground and the Larwood and Voce stand. In the left-hand side of the building all of the tables are set for dining, the mains start at around £15 for the steak and cheeseburger. The smaller, but more interesting, right-hand side houses the bar area that feels separate from the dining sections. The serving counter along the rear wall faces small split-level seating areas up the right and across the front. There was no sport during my recent Wednesday afternoon visit so it was very quiet, apart from some low background music that played while the television aired rolling BBC News, poor old Huw. Premium and craft keg was available and four of the five hand pumps were in use drawing Ossett’s White Rat and Oakham’s Citra alongside Blue Monkey Brewery’s Primate Best and 4am. I went for the Ossett that was on good form. The service was polite, however it was very evident that neither of the barmaids wanted to be there. This place is handy for the cricket when it must get heaving, but I don’t think I would go out of my way to revisit.

The Larwood and Voce Tavern was built in the mid 80s by Home Ales brewery. This pub backs onto Trent Bridge cricket ground and the pub has a bit of a cricket theme to it. Once inside the pub still has its two room layout,the bar is to the right,this is a smart room that has got comfy leather bench seating in one large bay with large tables,there is also a small raised area to the front right. There was a large screen which was showing the end of the grand national,so i am not sure if this is always on show. The lounge to the left is now more of a dining room. There were five pumps on the bar with two unclipped and one with its clip turned round,this left two real ales,i had a drink of Magpie Proper Moleface which was a nice well kept beer,the other beer was Black Sheep bitter. The pub was quite busy with a good mix of age ranges. I was quite happy having a drink in here and could have settled in for a few more if not on a pub crawl.
