The Sugar Loaf, Easton, Bristol

Good size pub conveniently located right next to the railway station. Smallish bar off to the left with some comfy red velvet seating and a larger bar off to the right with a fruit machine, quiz machine, etc. and another room behind that with a pool table. There are a couple of tables out the front to sit and watch the world go by, although unfortunately I didn't realise they had a garden so didn't try that. Friendly locals. Beers on this occasion were Doom Bar, Codrington Codger and Brain's Rev. James. Cider is where this pub seems to shine though, with Addlestones, Thatcher's Gold, Blackthorn, Thatcher's Dry, Black Rat and Cheddar Valley. There was even Thatcher's Gold Slush – think Slush Puppy, but made with cider! Very pleasant on a warm summer's evening.

Not been in here for many years, but in the 1970's the Landlord was unusual in that he was Teetotal.
