Gabba's Bar, Pleck, Walsall

A large detached mock Tudor, half brick, half stone pub, with patio, known for a century as The Four Horseshoes. The interior now seems to comprise of an Indian resturant and a lounge room, with beer taps - so half and half. There is a reasonable choice of food, though sadly i didn't get time to eat. The lounge is in pink and wood panel, with some old photos and bits of ephemera. There was Sky TV with the darts on. The service was friendly and the clientele mixed - though there was a sign, of which i was supportive, saying 'this is a family place, watch your language'. Beer; all tap sadly, there was Banks's MILD, decent enough and a Theakston's MILD tap (not on), otherwise it was general stuff. I think this would be a popular enough place, it just doesn't do the real ale, so i wouldn't really visit again.

Name changed from Four Horseshoes to Gabba's Bar

I popped into the Plough last Friday for a spot of lunch, before walking around the endless garden centres. It's a big pub with a conservatory, ample parking and plenty of outside seating that incorporates a children's play area. The lager was good and waitress was very friendly and helpful. My bacon and cheese burger was missing the cheese, but it was nice anyway. At around 12:30 the pub started to fill up with pensioner types who started to bombard the kitchen with orders for fish and chips. I got the feeling that the local residents are in their twilight years, so I wouldn't imagine that it is a beehive of activity in the evenings (but I could be wrong). This is a food orientated family friendly pub.
