The Fox & Goose, W5

This is a large Fullers pub with a hotel attached. The pub interior is made up of three main areas, with the bar being in the front section but also accessible from the bigger room beyond. The front bar has a stone floor, a couple of fireplaces including one with a large copper vessel on a hook, a clock and fox picture above. There is some good quality wood panelling in here, the windows are leaded and seating is traditional and including a few benches and a pew style seat. There is also an interesting painting of the pub from 1946 showing how this area has changed. A TV on the end wall was showing some rugby highlights on mute. The room beyond here has a more modern lighter feel. There is a wooden floor, seating at cushioned armchairs, all a bit functional but there is an elaborate dark wood carved fireplace in here. Continuing on there is a seperate carpeted dining room with tables set. To the rear there is a fair sized garden area with the usual benches. I was pleasantly surprised by this place, perhaps I didn't expect too much from a roadside pub adjacent to a major gyratory system, but once inside the front bar you wouldn't think you were in such a location. The service was friendly and genuine, and my ESB was in good shape. Also on offer were Pride, Jack Frost and Front Row, a Six Nations themed special. I don't know if the restaurant area has a seperate menu, but the bar menu looked fairly priced, eg sandwiches £4-£5, hot baguettes served with chips £6-£7, bangers and mash £7.15, chilli £6.95.

I had a couple of pints in this large pub yesterday evening and was served by a very friendly barman. Pride, ESB, Honeydew Keg, Stella, Kronenburg and Guinness were all available from the double sided bar. It was pretty busy for the Portugal v Czech Republic game which was being shown on a couple of plasma screens. There is a nice beer garden to the rear and a few benches at the front, but you'd be mad to sit out the front unless you have an interest in watching and listening to cars and vans fly past at high speed. I'd pop in again if I was walking past, but that is highly unlikely.

Fairly large Fuller's pub on the very busy Hanger Lane.Has a couple of seperate drinking/dining areas and can get very busy especially with food as it has a hotel attached.Excellent Fuller's beers on offer.
